The Sofa
Kings offer an interesting blend of musical styles. Young
listeners as well as seasoned music aficionados will appreciate
their eclectic mix of folk/rock, country, traditional and reggae.
All these are mixed with generous doses of improvisation.
It is these ingredients that open up each band member's creative
talents, taking the music to ever new and exciting heights and
always one measure away from total hysteria. From Dead
heads to red necks, the Sofa Kings always manage to entertain
the crowd.
The Sofa Kings began to evolve in 1994 when several
members of the group St. James Gate, a band based in Milford,
Ct. specializing in country and bluegrass music decided to go
in a slightly different direction. With this foundation,
the Sofa Kings spent between 1994 and the present going through
several keyboard and rhythm sections before settling on the
current line up. The keyboard and rhythm sections each
bring their own music style and influences to the band and the
result in definitely unique.
